Attempted Poetry: Angry Teacher Edition

The Cold Shoulder

It began with a wind chill
Of minus twenty-three
All the teachers thinking:
"Yippee!"
For surely, school will be closed.

We turned on the radio, the TV,
And the net
All the teachers thinking:
"What a sure bet!"
For surely, school will be closed.

Awaiting our cancellation
Turned to frustration
So many school closings
We all were supposing
That we would be next!

We're the county exception
To this freezing vacation
All the teachers re-thinking
Our job situation
For surely, this isn't fair.

Vacation

Academics, we shirk
Forget about work,
I wanna be on my vacation.

The kids are wild
The homework is mild,
I wanna be on my vacation.

Artwork comes down
The walls are now brown,
I wanna be on my vacation.

Papers are filed
Yet more work is piled,
I wanna be on my vacation.

Waking up early
Makes me feel surly,
I wanna be on my vacation.

The days never end
Too much time I spend
Dreaming about my vacation.

The kids said they'll miss me,
My heart-break I foresee,
I'll miss them on my vacation!

Whine Rhyme

Speaker drones,
Turn off phones,
I am in a meeting.

Time crawls,
Interest falls,
I am in a meeting.

Stress mounts,
Time counts,
I am in a meeting.

Six more hours,
Endurance powers,
I am in a meeting.

Minds wander,
I ponder:
"Why am I in this meeting?"

Rain Pain

Rain, rain, go away,
Never come back again.
The kids are wild
("Don't do that, child!")
And patience is wearing thin.

The more they scream,
The more I dream
Of being in faraway places...
A moor, a shore, or just a trap door;
I can't stand the sight of their faces.

The weather's grim,
I have a whim
To run away and hide.
But would it be prudent
To leave my students
While I sat outside and cried?

The more I think
The more I feel
That this is not the way.
Please help me, Lord,
(My faith restored)
To get me through my day!
