Fool me once...

Students are reading quietly (or, as "quietly" as is possible for fifth graders). "Logan" comes to my desk to ask this question: "Can I go to the bathroom 'cause I need to throw up".

What?!?

"Can I go to the bathroom 'cause I need to throw up?"

It was such an odd request and totally threw me off guard, so I said... "Okaaaaaayyyyy"

Then he turned around, walked out my door, and started skipping and jumping down the hallway.

Next thing you know, I'm half-yelling down the hall: "WAIT JUST A MINUTE, GET BACK HERE, YOU'RE NOT SICK!!!!!!!!!!"

Obviously no one has taught this boy how to fake it......

Awesome!

Kind of like the 9th grader who asked me if he could have on of my candies that were in a pumpkin on my desk. I said no, because I didn't have enough for everyone. After the bell rang, guess what was under his desk?

A Kit Kat wrapper! The sneaky bastard! ;)

Reminds me of my first year teaching when a student asked to use the bathroom 5 minutes before break. Told her she could wait. Turning back from the blackboard I saw I would be the clean-up crew for the vomit everywhere! Sigh. She "forgot" to tell me she was sick! Mom (p.s. her name was Havilyn)

I had a 2nd grade boy one time when I was a teacher aide who told me he could be naughty because he had A B C D E F G disease (adhd). I told him that it didn't matter and he was still in trouble.

Your story is pretty funny and I can picture the dumbfounded look on your face

You made the right choice in trusting him, though. When I was in 2nd grade I raised my hand and said I needed to go to the bathroom right then ( was going to barf). She said no and I promptly threw up..all over my desk...dripping down the sides...Better a skipping fibber than throw up all over!
