"bored" games

Are you bored yet?

Sometimes it's easy to get bored on vacation. I used to, but now I have too many hobbies to get bored! If you're searching for things to do with family, there are always board games!

Here are some of my favorites to play with family:

Apples to Apples - so great for a crowd!

Settlers of Catan - a bit more complex, but addicting nonetheless.

Balderdash - even if you don't think you're smart, you can totally win this. And even if you lose, I guarantee you'll be too busy laughing your head off to notice.

Pictionary - an oldie, but a goodie. Brush off the dust from your old copy-- you'll be surprised at how much fun it STILL is!

What are some of your favorites?

Balderdash is quite entertaining! Fun to try to make your fake definition sound real. I myself like Bananagrams, or you can play it with just a regular set of Scrabble letters without the board. Like Scrabble but you can rearrange your words at any time to incorporate the new letters that you take 2 at a time when someone uses up all of theirs! Very fast paced!

Don't know how it happened, but Dominoes has become a family favorite, again, and it was an independent thing. Everyone seemed to be playing 15s in their own homes and then decided to share! Family game night is still a great tradition and a way of keeping everyone close over the years.

Happy Holidays. Come visit when you can and don't forget to check out my other blog, too!

I think you might enjoy Carcassonne. One of my favorites is Taboo. I like the buzzer. The only problem is that I'm not allowed to be the buzzer-holder anymore...

We played Apples to Apples last year and it was pretty fun. My family are big game players so we enjoy Taboo, Are you smarter than a 5th Grader, Scene It, and a good old card game of May I. We are actually going to attempt to play a game via Skype this year since we wont be home for the holidays with family.
