- Have you ever heard people call it a "li-berry"? I'm not sure if it's a regional thing, a cultural thing, or what. When Max went to a certain rinky-dink graduate school for a semester when we lived in California, their college library was in a portable. Max didn't think it deserved the extra "r" so he referred to it as the liberry. But most people who call it that don't seem to be doing so as a joke.
- I don't understand why more people don't go to the library. It's like a bookstore where all the books are FREE (just as long as you bring them back, that is). And DVDs? FREE! And entertaining/educational children's programs? FREE! I'm sure if I had kids, I'd be living at the library.
- My local library had a book sale, and I picked up this book for my first graders next year:
I can't wait to see what hilarious discussions ensue from my kiddos next year!

My kids and I hit the li-berry once a week. I love it. And I am determined that they should love it! I wish I could get them interested in fiction! They love the non-fiction books about disgusting animals. I guess that's ok. I might have to check out the book you showed here - it looks cute!
I've given you a Blog with Substance Award. please stop by my blog to pick it up!
I know--the free DVDs are so cool! My library is super close and has a great children's section!
Love, love the liberry! Ha, that always irks me too..so many butchered words! We come home with bags of books, especially in the summer. I usually think I will read more than I can, but we can renew online if we don't finish!
Love the book you bought...can imagine the fun discussions the kids will have!
I like your post. When our children wanted to go to the "liberry" we knew what they wanted and zipped right over there. It took a while but they learned to say it right!
You need to be more 'pacific' about what you mean when you're talking about the liberry... if you use the right stragety, everything will fall into place... I adore the library and worked in one in another lifetime...

Hi! I don't know if I've said this yet but I'm new to your blog. I found you through your TBC feature. I love your blog!
I am one of those people who never go to the library because I like to own my books. I'm working on creating a library within my home. However, I recently decided to start taking my 3 year old daughter to the library. I just can't keep justifying spending $17 on a 15 page book ya know?? And with the library, I can check out as many books as we want and see if she even likes the book before I decided to spend money on it. I will definitely look for this one at the library. We're planning a trip there tomorrow! Thanks for sharing!
And "li-berry" annoys the heck out of me too!
You know what I love? The smell of the library when you're between the stacks, sitting on a stool, and it's nothing but books around you! Ah, solid sweetness. Did you ever do the library programs when you were a kid? I went every Monday night for story time and then check out time after that...perhaps that's what caused my library addition. I'm one of those people who have to ask for their 100 book limit to be extended because I've got the me books (read: trashy romance), the classroom kind, the self-help kind, the recipe kind...hence the 100+ limit. Given that I check in each day for your blog, I've followed you and have since added following to my own blog. Thanks for visiting! :)
I love library books, except the dirty smelly ones (which I recently found but couldn't handle it, so I bought my own copy). Buying books is painful, but the $$$ does support writers. I love being able to pass a really good book on to friends and students!
I love our library. All though you do have to pay for DVD's. Also, by the time I pay late fines it isn't technically free for me to get books there, but definitely a lot cheaper than Amazon!
our library lets you search for a book anywhere in the state and have it put on hold and sent to your home library. I have yet to not find what I'm looking for. And some of them can be a bit unusual.
I cracked up at the "love scene" between rabbits on the screen!! What was the rating on the film all the innocent rabbits were watching anyway?? Mom
