the crazy continues

I was warned when I was in college that teachers have tantrums too.

"No.... not me! I'm so on top of everything, I would never let that happen!"

Haha.

In the first two years of my teaching career, I had several little breakdowns (not in front of the kids, mind you...). Sometimes they involved yelling to myself in the car. One time I threw my keys against the inside of my classroom door and shrieked in frustration (true story!). One afternoon, I was crying little sobs underneath my teacher desk.

There are just things that happen to make your job harder that come out of left field! Like this week....

1. I already have a new student.
2. I have to hold a temporary IEP for this student BEFORE Monday!
3. We were supposed to have a teacher workday all day on Friday but OOPS one more three hour meeting just special for you deaf ed. teachers... forgot to tell you until just now!
4. New school policy: we can't touch the copy machine or the laminator. All requests must be filed two days in advance (DON'T EVEN GET ME STARTED!!)

So last night, it was completely understandable that when I clicked to watch this strangely charming video, I laughed so hard I cried..... But then I COULDN'T STOP CRYING.

Unless all of you had the same reaction I did, that was definitely my first mini-breakdown of the school year!

The video is hilarious! I am sorry you had such a rotten day and I hope that there are no copier/laminator emergencies!

I'm stunned about the photocopy request. That sounds crazy! I hope that's the worst news you get & the school year gets better. Keep your chin up! :)

I have a string of unrelated comments so I will number them.

    1) So you've had The Breakdown. Whew. At least that's out of the way now.

    2) I once worked in a school that wouldn't let us use the copier and required 2 WEEKS notice for copies. I once got my Halloween copies after Thanksgiving.

    3) That video made me laugh the second time. Yes, there was a second time. How did you find out about it? Judging by the views, it went viral QUICK.

Praying you'll have an otherwise smooth start to the school year. Stick with it! :-)

That copy machine policy is so ridiculous. What are you supposed to do in an emergency??

I am sorry you had your first melt down of the year!
I always get a cold sore before school starts and my first break down is usually before the first parent teacher conferences:) Hang in there!

The video is a hoot, tho!

Good lord- you can't make your own copies anymore??? I thought mine was crazy when she said we had to bring our own paper to the copier. Yours is MUCH crazier! Hope tomorrow is better. As Faith Hill likes to sing, "Just Breathe."

Oh man! The fun is just getting started....and I know enough about IEPs to know that just "putting a temp one together" isn't to be laughed at! Good luck...

Okay first off...you poor thing! I did not react that same way and I'm so sad for you that you did! But good for you for getting it out!

And that video is awesome! Poor little guy with his lint dog Allen!!

I cannot even remember what I was going to say about the post--that video KILLED me. I can not stop cracking up--brilliant! The kind of thing that "going viral" was made for.

I just found your blog, and its hilarous! I'm a teacher too, so I totally relate. Only my kids are stinky junior high kids! They never say ANYTHING cute! But thanks for the video--it was hilarous! I didn't have a breakdown, though. We don't start school until tomorrow...
